Quantum technology is earmarked as the next big revolution in information processing in the 21st century. It has been identified as a core technology to aid in many of the UN development goals, with applications to support the transition to a decarbonised economy and address issues of climate change. Quantum technologies have also been identified as one of the critical technologies in the Australian National Interest and it has applications in many of Fishermans Bend’s key sectors, such as transport and defence.

This project will support quantum literacy in Fishermans Bend and showcase an innovative new quantum device, called the Quokka. Developed by Eigensystems, the Quokka is a low cost, 30-qubit quantum computing system, designed specifically for education and enhancing quantum literacy.

Eigensystems co-founder Chris Ferrie, notable quantum educator and best selling author, will present an introduction to quantum computing to the Fishermans Bend community and demonstrate how Quokka can be used to build quantum literacy and how to engage students and professionals on this new technology.
