Celebrating Community and Connection at Westgate Park with Nature-Fest

Nature-Fest, organised by Westgate Biodiversity, proved to be a remarkable success, drawing over 250 visitors for a day filled with community connection and environmental awareness. The free, family-friendly event allowed attendees to explore the hidden natural gem in their backyard, beautifully juxtaposed against the industrial and CBD skyline.

The day kicked off with a meaningful Welcome to Country ceremony that fostered a real sense of unity and connection among the local organisations, volunteers, and families present.

Visitors engaged with interactive exhibits, gardening workshops, and educational talks, gaining valuable insights into local biodiversity and conservation efforts. The event featured hands-on activities such as clay sculpting, plant printing, and keychain making, which attracted people of all ages. An enthusiastic riverbank clean-up and various guided tours sparked interest in environmental stewardship and forged connections with nature.

It was inspiring to see so many people come together to reaffirm their commitment to preserving the environment. The positive engagement and enthusiasm displayed throughout the day highlight the potential for future events that continue to strengthen community ties while promoting awareness of our local ecosystems.

Thanks to Westgate Biodiversity and volunteers for organising such a fantastic event and everyone attended who made the day special. We look forward to supporting more opportunities like this in the future to celebrate and protect our local environment.

Westgate Biodiversity work tirelessly to transform Westgate Park into a bush-like habitat, fostering biodiversity, and creating a natural space for the community to enjoy. Visit their website to learn more here.
