FB IDEAs Supports E-Micromobility Innovation in Fishermans Bend
A new e-micromobility pilot program has been launched in Fishermans Bend, bringing sustainable last-mile transport solutions to the precinct. Spearheaded by NTRO (National Transport Research Organisation) in collaboration with microFleet and proudly supported by FB IDEAs, this initiative tests the feasibility of shared e-scooters and e-bikes for commuting.
The six-month trial, based at NTRO headquarter, introduces a fleet of two e-scooters and two e-bikes, supported by OneDock, an innovative universal charging station that allows any e-vehicle to charge with a compatible adapter. Participating NTRO staff can book and use the vehicles to travel between Fishermans Bend and Southern Cross Station, trips within the precinct, as well as commute to/from home. The pilot explores how e-micromobility can enhance connectivity and reduce reliance on traditional transport options.
At the launch, Microfleet CEO Al Reid, NTRO expert Ronny Kutadinata, and FB IDEAs’ Marina Monz demonstrated the vehicles, booking app, and charging infrastructure, highlighting the program’s vision for a more accessible and sustainable urban transport network.
This proof-of-concept study is designed to uncover barriers to e-micromobility adoption, analyse usage patterns, and assess operational and safety requirements for fleet management. Insights gathered through data and staff surveys will inform future expansion opportunities for businesses and, potentially, the broader public.
The findings from this trial will contribute to the development of business and funding models suitable for long-term implementation, paving the way for broader adoption of sustainable transport options across the precinct.
